Booni blows up, Gibbon Wins it

Booni Blows it

Another week and more techincal issues prevented another great event. Orbittman was unable to join and when we did all joined the poor bloke could not talk to anyone, but then again all he would of heard was ESC Clarkey saying “sorry” to Tommy Gunn alot and Fili saying “I have had enough I am retiring” as well as “Fuck” and “I am driving toilet”, quality quotes.

The Furry Cup

Well the cup was run and Gibbon won it by 5 points which marked improvement for the rest of the grid as he was this week there for the whole event, so It is all getting tighter. Clarksy and Tommy raced well again pushing themselves right up the championship.

The Cup In Breif

Race 1: Death Adder Reverse

It was a new experience for most of us flying around the chicane ridden monster, Clarksy took the win and Fili came a fantastic second (Kind of went down hill from there), Gaz started his sucicidal self taking the Leguna Seca approach from last week.

Race 2: Road Atlanata Short

Ahh old faithful, we all love this trackand none more so than the orbittman who managed to win comfertably which I personally put down to not hearing the rest of us shout damn as four of us totaled it in the chicane at the end of the course, this was after Clarksy and The Gunn had a Bad Boy esc type drag race though the first chicane.

Race 3: Suzuka West

This is where Fili’s luck changed, everyone was safely through the first which was a change on last week where Gaz and Clarkey spen time across the cat litter, but through the hairpin Fili was wiped out and sent 180 degrees facing the field of nicely painted minis. Gaz had a strong charge in this race after a crash which sent Clarkey into the cat litter after Clarkey and Gibbon had got a bit personal - but he did well to beat Tim.  Gibbon pounced all over the knocks and shunts and won it.

Race 4: Tsuksba Short Circut (Was suppose to be the long one)

Another favourite for paint trading this bad boy which lead to a Clark 1, 2 a first considering Tommy was giving ESC a run for his money and was all over him. Orbittman was involved in some early trouble which put him bottom of the stack.

Race 5: Leguna Seca

Stack central through the first couple of corners. Fili was ruthlessy crashed off at the start from Tommy who in turn was pranged by Clarkey through four, that ended those guys races well Tommy flew grabbed the fastest lap caught and passed Gaz who panicked under pressure. ESC trundled home in last with his knackered old mini. Clarksy won again and was on fire.

Race 6: Mugello Grand Prix (Feature)

A great feature race with the first couple of laps involving five cars line a stern battling it out. We saw a first on the second lap though our first retiree in Fili, who had just had enough. FIli was caught through one and then sent backwards it was like bambi on ice. In his attempt to race up through the pack he in his own admission “Wiped Orbittman out”. Gibbon won the day destroying the field, Tommy who seems to have got the hang of his wheel came a fantastic second after battling through the field and the Clarks settled for third and fourth, Clarksy grabbing his 5th podium spot.

Next Week Orbittman will pick the tracks so get in touch mate.

Clarksy wins the Aurora 23 Challege cup

After his disatrous Decisive Moment run Clarksy came up as the winner in the Aurora 23 Challenge Cup. Unfortunaltey his luck had passed on to Filibuster who was involved in every tangle possible and averaged fifth position over the event - I expect lots of photos of a smashed up white mini.

Gaz finally notched up his first win, despite being a magnet for random collisions around the course.

The Gibbon missed the first two sprint races but still managed to finish tied fourth with Gaz, despite get a rather rough ride in Suzuka East being involved in possibly the biggest wreck going into the hairpin at 2.

Tommy Gunn with his wheel run well and notched a win up and a couple of fastest laps.

Tim Orbittman joined late and only race the feature cup but he came in and walked it in a very good feature race around Road Atlana.

Rolling Start on Feature Race - Comments Invited

A rambling chat between Gaz and Keith lead to an idea which we thought we should put out to the rest of the crew for some feedback.

Essentially, we take the standings order after the sprint cup races and reverse it. Then for the feature race, we add an extra “formation” lap and make sure that whoever won the sprint cup is at the back, whoever was last in the sprint cup is at the front. Nobody is allowed to overtake (apart from getting into position) until they are on lap two.

So now the start is controlled by the person who most needs the points and the person who has been the general winner on the day has to do the most work to get to the front. Could mix things up a bit!

It’s only an idea, so let’s hear what you think. Maybe we will try it out in one of the warm-ups next event?

Aurora23 Challenge Event Canned

Well we where all there but some major connection problems led to the event being canned and rescheduled for next thursday (unless anyone can do Monday????). Gazmick couldnt get on and Clarksy had major lag problems which required him to rewire his house just to hardwire his xbox up.

The cup started with two races but shortly ended after Clarksy’s lag problems ended both of his races prematurley. Shame really as Orbittman was back in form notching the first win at Diamond back and then normal sevice as Gibbon scored the win at Leguna Seca, which I have to say was a winner with the minis.

So after a million game invites to gaz and some headset issues we all decided to just have practice at none other than the Nurbugring which involved several accidents and Tim Hanns Orbittman blitzing the field and a brotherly tustle and Gibboon, Fili and Tommy ice skating on around the track to the beautifal sound track of crash bang whoops there goes my bumper.

Gutted! - But we all have more knowledge of Aurora’s challenge. I personally blame it on the snake, and Gaz’s pink mini.

Does My Bum Look Big In This?

I have been trying to convince my wife that she should join in a “ladies” race but she is resisting. In an attempt to lure her in, I painted up a car for her knowing that if it looked right she would find it harder to resist. By “right” I mean “pink”, obviously!

Anyway, last night I thought I would take it out for a spin and get a little dust on it. I think I might use it at the next event as I have a feeling driving a pink car will force me to put some distance between me and the rest of the pack!

More features added to the website

11/2/09 - Last night we added the abillity to view the event schedule for a forthcoming race. If you look on the next event panel on the left when browsing the site there should be a view event details link which will tell you what tracks and number of laps will be run.

Last Week Sometime - Added season overview, event finishing positions and race results with a little stupid podium thing which just breaks up the boring table format etc.

What else is coming - Some funky stuff is being done just to make it easier to find the info. I do plan to redesign the site when I get time.
